Jack Wide was just an ordinary employee of the train union in South Africa during the latter part of the 19th century. His Job was pulling special rods to sign manually to passing trains and alert if something is wrong to avoid accidents.
The station he worked at was remote and quiet and in his free time, Wide used to jump between rail cars, until an accident caused him losing his both legs.
One day, walking through the market with his new wooden legs he came across a man with a trained Baboon called "Jack". The man agreed (out of pity) to sell Jack to the handicapped stranger to help him with his chores.
From this day on, Wide took Jack everyday to the same job he had at the train station, to be his companion, when one day, Wide did not pay attention and the Baboon jumped to pull the right rode and saved the day.
Wide was enlightened by this opportunity and step by step let Jack handle all the work, in exchange to whisky shots.
One lady (probably more) was shocked when she saw the drunk monkey handling such responsibility and went straight to the train union offices to report it. But when the union testers saw Jack's capabilities, instead of kicking both of them out, promote Jack the Baboon to be a official employee.
Jack died 9 years later with no single mistake doing his job.
