Ginger Beard Black Hair

If you've ever wandered why your beard happen to grow ginger and not the same color as your hair grow, this is for you..

To have ginger hair, you need two copies of the gene that produces red hair - one comes from your mother and one comes from your father.

However, to have a red beard, you just need one copy of the same gene.

So that if a man’s mum or dad gives him one copy of the gene, he’ll end up with red hair in his beard, even if his hair is a different color.

But the genes can also be passed along without being expressed on either side, only to resurface a number of generations down the line.

That means that the red gene may still exist in a family which has forgotten that a long-dead relative had red hair, and it might only be when the man decided to grow a beard that the red gene manifests itself.
